3 Mindsets That Help Me Blow My Clients’ Minds Every Time

Many digital professionals, freelancers, and service providers have messaged me to ask how I keep a 100% record across all tracked metrics and have maintained long-term relationships with some clients spanning over 3years.

I know for a fact that I am not the most talented in my niche, so the answer is not as simple as “I’m good at what I do”.

Here are 3 mindsets that help me deliver my best work to my clients every time and as a result help me crush my goals.

1. Like It Was Mine

When I receive a project and start working on it, I only take the client’s instructions and immediately reframe my mind to thinking …
“I’m doing this for myself”.

I NEVER WORK FOR MONEY, I WORK FOR ME.

I satisfy my own standards, using the client’s project description.

That way, even if the client does not like the project, I love it and can use it for myself, put it on my portfolio or confidently sell it to someone else.

Mindset Number 1: Don’t deliver something you cannot pay for and use, never work for money, do the work like it was yours, work for yourself.

2. Like I Was Paid A Million Bucks

It is common amongst freelancers to complain about being paid shit money or compare what they earn with someone else.

I almost never care what the next person earns, once we’ve agreed on a price, I go to work and do it like I was paid a million bucks.

My basic package is under 1 minute of writing, recording, or music production, Standard for full-length writing alone or recording alone, and Premium if I have to write, record and produce the backing track.

I only have Basic, Standard & Premium Services based on the volume of work I’m required to do, instead of dumbing down my quality because a client paid less.

No one will care that a delivery of yours is rubbish because it’s your basic package, it will still bear your name on it.

Everything that has my name on it regardless of how much I was paid will always be PREMIUM
(actually, this is a nice bit to add to my offers and gig descriptions — Don’t you dare steal it! #LOL)

That is how you do your best work every time.

Mindset Number 2: Kill the mindset of reducing the quality of your work for whatever reason, even if it’s free work, do it like you were paid a million bucks

3. Like Everyone’s Watching

However small you think you are, believe me when I tell you that someone’s watching.

In this internet age, someone is always watching and you want to put on a great show every time you show up.

If for instance, you freelance on a marketplace like Fiverr, there is an option to display your previous client’s work on your gig page.

You will be doing yourself a disservice if you churn out low-quality work and it is displayed on your portfolio because the next client will see that and it could decide whether or not you make the sale.

Do everything like you are performing on a stage, with the mindset that everyone’s watching, that’s what you want and pray for after all, imagine that your prayers are answered and everyone is actually watching — What will they see?

Mindset Number 3: Whether or not you know it, everything you do and put out in the universe will be seen by more people, more important people than you may realise, if you know this, you will endeavour to do your best work every time.
